HTC HD7
The HTC HD2, released earlier, proved to be a highly popular phone for the Chinese manufacturer. It is unsurprising then that they should seek to capitalise on its success by introducing a follow up handset. Although the leaked information regarding the HD7 is unconfirmed by HTC, they do seem to suggest that the company has another winner on their hands.
The HD7 was briefly mentioned in a leaked product list from O2, which seems to suggest the phone will be up for grabs in late October. This ties in nicely with the release of Windows Phone 7, which is purported to be the OS in use on this phone. This would make sense as the HD2 was a Windows Mobile phone, despite HTC’s current penchant for Android.
This choice of OS is also alluded to in the name, HD7. There is seemingly no reason to jump from 2 to 7 unless there was some specific significance about the number 7. There are some sceptics who believe that the leaked document is not at all genuine, but we see no real reason to assume that it is faked. You can still pick up some great HTC HD2 contracts online, and at the same places you can find HTC HD7 contracts when they are released.
Actual details about the phone are sketchy, but it is likely to follow on in the same vein as the HD2. We can expect to see similar features and perhaps many improvements on this earlier device. The HD2 featured Wi-Fi and 3G as well as much in the way of entertainment, including a 5 megapixel camera. Can we expect to see an 8mp camera on the new device? We don’t know for sure.
